Lozano, Sahakyan and Akram proved their fantastic progress in Belgrade

The EUBC European Elite Boxing Championships continued with its second competition day in Belgrade, Serbia where the next stage of the preliminaries was on the agenda.

Spain’s Rafael Lozano Serrano replaced the defending European Champion of the flyweight (51kg), Martin Molina in the national team and he opened his campaign with a success against Romania’s Tokyo Olympian Cosmin Girleanu.

Bulgaria’s multiple European Champion in various age groups, Radoslav Rosenov is the Seed No.1 at the lightweight (60kg) and he showed his astonishing technical skills against Estonia’s Nikolaj Tsaskin on Day2.

Slovenia’s Tadej Cernoga has eight years of international experience and he proved his progress in the previous competitions. The 28-year-old Slovenian had a younger opponent from Moldova, Victor Vacula and his third round was decisive between them today.

Armenia’s Artur Sahakyan has excellent results as a youth boxer but he was not the favourite against the defending champion, Georgia’s Artyush Gomtsyan at the lightweight (60kg). The younger Armenian worked not only hard but his technical skills were enough to eliminate the favourite in Belgrade.

Poland’s Michal Jarlinski made a great scalp today, the young boxer eliminated Azerbaijan’s Rio Olympics bronze medallist Kamran Shakhsuvarly at the middleweight (75kg) while Italy’s Remo Salvati and Hungary’s Soma Mester also impressed in the session.

Scotland’s Isa Akram is only 19 but he competed enough international events to beat Poland’s Jakub Sulecki at the lightweight (60kg). Another strong hopeful in this weight class, Montenegro’s Tomislav Djinovic stopped Hungary’s Kruzito Kovacs on their re-match.

France’s Lounes Hamraoui, the silver medallist from the last edition, used his footwork to catch Serbia’s Stefan Camovic with his counter-attacks and he succeeded today. Another host nation boxer, Almir Memic was energetic and he stopped Israel’s Jonathan Arnon in their middleweight (75kg) contest.
