Sam Morovati, Nikita Nystedt and Krenar Aliu are all planning their returns at the Ruska Tournament

The new edition of the International Santa Claus Ruska Tournament will be held in Lapland’s capital in Rovaniemi, North Finland on September 19-23.

Rovaniemi is one of the hidden diamonds in Europe and it is famous for the Ruska Tournament in boxing as well.

The venue of the event is the Santasport Olympic Training Centre Rovaniemi which is located by the Ounasvaara Hills, just 2km from the downtown of Rovaniemi.

The women boxers can participate in their six Olympic weight categories such as 50kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 66kg and 75kg.

The 10 men weight classes in the event will be as follows: 51kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63.5kg, 67kg, 71kg, 75kg, 80kg, 92kg and +92kg.

Finland’s Krista Kovalainen is a powerful boxer at the women’s welterweight (66kg) but she can expect hard battles against two young Germans, the Youth World silver medallist Carlotta Schuenemann and Emely Dittrich.

Finland’s technician boxer at the light middleweight (71kg), Sam Morovati is one of the returning athletes in the event, the 21-year-old European Championships competitor is a high hope in Rovaniemi.

One of the best Finnish male boxers, Nikita Nystedt will return at the men’s cruiserweight (86kg) in Rovaniemi and his main rival in the Ruska Tournament could be Toni Tissari.

Krenar Aliu delighted the Finnish boxing fans with several great junior and youth results in the 2010s and after a few issues, he will return at the men’s super heavyweight (+92kg) in the Ruska Tournament.

Finland’s top Referee & Judge, Mr. Jarno Mustonen is the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and the engine of the tournament.

The city of Rovaniemi is located in the north part of Finland, in Lapland and it is the capital of Santa Claus. As the Santa Claus will be there also in the Ruska Tournament which will make the event one of the unique competitions in the entire world.
