Krowka and Spica started their campaigns successfully in Budva

France’s Sandro Spica and Poland’s Kinga Krowka both opened their campaigns successfully at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva.

Poland’s Kinga Krowka claimed a gold medal at the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament in Budva seven months ago and she returned to Montenegro to take her next title. The 18-year-old Polish was dominant against Croatia’s Lana Kovacic and she will now meet for the guaranteed medal Kazakhstan’s Aruzhan Zhangabayeva.

Germany’s Lillyfrida Grabert had national successes in the recent years but she had a very tough battle against Azerbaijan’s European Junior Champion Emili Rzayeva at the light welterweight (63kg). The German caused a sensation with her great finish and she will be facing for the medal with DPR Korea’s Pak Sin A.

Spain’s Asier Lanzarote had to miss the recent Boxam Tournament but he recovered from his injuries in time to participate in Budva. The Spaniard began the first round with great actions against Turkey’s Ibrahim Alp Bakir and his height advantage decided their lightweight (60kg) meeting today.

Azerbaijan’s European Junior Champion Mahammadali Gasimzade used his opponent’s faults to take the lead on the scorecards after three minutes. Colombia’s Orlando Perez was not able to find the best distance against the Azeri southpaw who had also the advantage in terms of speed and technique.

Adam Maca represented England in the past but he moved back to his grassroots to Albania and he claimed silver in the 2023 Junior World Championships. The Albanian landed most of his punches from counter-attacking range and he eliminated Serbia’s Ivan Krivacevic in a one-sided contest.

France’s Sandro Spica is one of the favourites at the lightweight (60kg) who felt the tempo against Hungary’s Daniel Frank from the first seconds. The 18-year-old trained together with their World Champion star Sofiane Oumiha this summer and he was untouchable for the Hungarian today.
