Vassallo, Khunjua, Van der Toorn, Djinovic and Traore all earned gold medals in the historic Brussels Capital Tournament

Italy’s Marta Vassallo, Belgium’s Ana Khunjua, Netherlands’ Maud Van der Toorn, Montenegro’s Tomislav Djinovic and France’s Makan Traore all earned gold medals at the Brussels Capital Tournament.

Italy’s Martina Vassallo had junior and youth results in her career but she is absolutely debutant in the elite age group. The teenage talent was one of the main surprises in the entire competition and she defeated two Indians, Srinivasan Kalaivani and Sharma Bhawna to take the 51kg title.

Ana Khunjua represented Georgia in several major championships but she is now member of the Belgian national team. She not only defeated France’s young Kaelya Mopin in the semi-finals but she earned the title of the women’s 54kg weight class after hear success over Italy’s Michel Nicol Vescovini.

Netherlands’ Youth World Champion, the ace of the 2005 born age group, Maud Van der Toorn used her precise boxing against India’s Paris Olympian Preeti to win the 57kg final in Brussels.

Kosovo’s Paris Olympian Donjeta Sadiku made several historic results from her country, she had the skills, and power to beat Italy’s Rebecca Nicoli at the 60kg final.

Montenegro’s European medallist Tomislav Djinovic did not give up his final against India’s Dikshant Dahiya and his punches were decisive in the third round.

Belgium’s Nadir Boulaiz (55kg), Hamza Sriri (75kg) and Amine Baalla (+90kg) impressed in their finals while the 19-year-old Rasul Tisayev walked over to the gold of the 65kg.

France’s Paris Olympian Makan Traore had the experience to beat Netherlands’ promising Farshid Bos at the 70kg which was one of the top finals in Brussels.

Belgium’s Noa Hadjit suffered a tight loss to Australia’s Marlon Sevehon at the 80kg final before Turkey’s Muhammet Furkan Karadag stopped Italy’s young Luca Iovoli.
