Fundora stripped of WBO title

Sebastian Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KOs) was stripped of WBO World super-welterweight title, after he didn’t agree to fight next his mandatory challenger Xander Zayas (21-0, 13 KOs).

Fundora is expected to fight Tim Tszyu (25-2, 18 KOs) in a rematch on July 19 in Las Vegas. Fundora holds WBC World title belt.

“It is hereby resolved that… Fundora is hereby stripped his WBO Jr. Middleweight champion status, effective immediately,” declared WBO Championship Committee chairman Luis Batista-Salas. “[The] WBO Jr. Middleweight Championship is declared VACANT, effective immediately.”

WBO Championship Committee will decide now for two contenders to fight for vacant title.
