Poland and Hungary will also join Finland’s upcoming event, the Pirkka Tournament

The next international competition, the Pirkka Tournament will be held in Tampere, Finland on May 10-11 and the competition is for the U19, U17, U15 and even the U13 girls and boys.

Altogether 24 women and 155 men boxers from 10 nations have registered to the Pirkka Tournament according to the website of the competition.

The U17 men categories are crowded with 67 male boxers but the quality among the U19 weight categories will be also excellent in Tampere.

Poland will be sending 16 boxers to the competition to Finland with head coach Mr. Dariusz Kochanowski and he included several top talents to the squad.

Hungary is also not a common participant in the Pirkka Tournament and their Laura Dorko and Hunor Asztalos are well-known from the previous European Championships.

Tampere hosted the 1993 edition of the Men’s World Boxing Championships and also the European Boxing Championships in the year of 2000.

Female and male boxers who were born in 2007 or in 2008 will be eligible to participate in the U19 part of the Pirkka Tournament.

The 2009 and the 2010 born boxers are able to the participate in the U17 competition in Tampere and they will compete in 23 weight categories.

The 2011 and 2012 age groups will have the right to compete in the U15 event while the youngest U13 talents will be the members of the 2013 and 2014 born boxers.
