Essuman defeats Taylor, Itauma stops Balogun

Ekow Essuman (22-1, 8 KOs) stunned former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor (19-3), defeating him on Saturday night in Glasgow, UK via unanimous decision.

Fight was for vacant WBO Global welterweight title. All three judges scored the fight in favor of Essuman (116:112, 116:113 and 115:113).

“I remember a lot of stuff from when we sparred,” he told DAZN’s Ade Oladipo in the ring post-fight before reaffirming his desire to box for a world title before much longer.

In undercard, Heavyweight prodigy Moses Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) continued his rapid rise, stopping Mike Balogun (21-2, 16 KOs) in round two. 20-year-old dropped Balogun once in round one and twice in second round and defended his WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title.
