Resendiz upsets Caleb Plant, fight with Charlo in doubt

Former world champion Caleb Plant (23-3, 14 KOs) suffered a surprise defeat from Jose Armando Resendiz (16-2, 11 KOs) putting in doubt the fight against Jermall Charlo (34-0).

The fight for WBA Interim World super-middleweight title, held in Las Vegas on Saturday night, ended with split decision victory of Resendiz.

Two judges scored the fight 116:112 in favor of Resendiz and one scored 115:113 in favor of Plant.

In the same event Jermall Charlo did his job, stopping Thoams La Manna (39-6-1) in round six.

“We’ve got to go back to the drawing board on this one. Caleb Plant dropped the ball,” Charlo said at Mandalay Bay after WBA interim super middleweight champion Plant was upset by Resendiz.
