Stevenson beats Zepeda, Sheeraz stops Berlanga
Shakur Stevenson (24-0) defended his WBC World lightweight title with convincing victory over William Zepeda Segura (33-1). Stevenson won via unanimous decision (118:110, 118:110, 119:109).
Event was held on Saturday night in New York. In the other title fight held on this event Subriel Matias (23-2) won the WBC World super-lightweight title beating via majority decision Alberto Puello (114:114, 115:113 and 115:113).
Hamzah Sheeraz (22-0-1) got an impressive KO victory over Edgar Berlanga (23-2). Sheeraz dropped Berlanga twice in round four and once in rounde five, after which referee stopped the fight. Sheeraz could fight next year against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
David Morrell (12-1) defeated Imam Khataev (10-1) via split decision in a 10 rounder.
