Jakimova, Hoppema, Patricio, Stegari and Urbanski are all semi-finalists at the Brandenburg U19 Cup

The preliminaries and the quarter-finals featured at the Brandenburg Youth Cup in Germany and several of the best talents shined in these stages.

Lithuania’s Jelizaveta Jakimova started well in the first day of boxing in the Brandenburg U19 Cup and she continued her winning path in the second competition day when she bowed out Italy’s Estella Filardi at the 54kg weight class.

Julie Polednikova is an experienced Czech talent from the 2007 age group but she exceeded her previous level of boxing and she eliminated Sweden’s best youth talent, Medina Zaman at the women’s 57kg weight class.

Netherland’s Aaliyah Hoppema, the U19 World Championships silver medallist prepared well this event in Spain and the 18-year-old talent had the stamina and strength to beat England’s Tyika Thomas Soldiew at the 65kg.

England’s next female boxer at the 65kg weight class, Lexie Walker also proved her development in the second competition day when she triumphed over Czech Republic’s European Junior Champion Viktorie Jilkova.

United States’ Lorenzo Patricio had a strong year in 2024 but the 18-year-old speedy talent had to do his very best against Denmark’s top talent, Reda Al-Tamimi, while Italy’s Tommaso Orlando and Australia’s Taj Harrington are also in the last four at the 50kg.

Romania’s Darius Stegari is a superb talent at the men’s 65kg weight class and he had the speed to catch Poland’s Jan Januszewski on Day2 while Georgia’s Zviad Tchotchua and United States’ Lavant Brownlee also impressed in this division.

Poland’s youth No.1, Fabian Urbanski, the Junior World Champion, moved up to the 80kg in the recent months and he had a strong performance against England’s Tobias Taylor but his next opponent, the US boxer, Joseph Awinongya will be a big challenge for both of them on Day3.
