India announced maximum number of 20 boxers to participate at the World Boxing Championships

India will compete with maximum number of 20 boxers in the upcoming World Boxing Championships which will be held in Liverpool.

Their female No.1 could be Lovlina Borgohain in the World Championships, the Olympic medallist is aiming for her next title at the women’s 75kg weight class.

The World Champion Nikhat Zareen could be another ace in the women’s national team at the 51kg, she won more than 90% of her international contests.

Pooja Rani is another veteran boxer in the national team, the 34-year-old Asian Champion is among the favourites at the women’s 80kg.

Sakshi Choudhary moved down to the 54kg and the former Youth World Champion proved her progress in the recent World Boxing Cup.

The technician Meenakshi Hooda had a hard job to fix her place in the national team at the women’s 48kg weight class.

Jaismine Lamboria qualified for the Olympics and she is one of the tallest boxers at the women’s 57kg weight category.

Sanju Khatri (60kg), Neeraj Phogat (65kg), Sanamacha Chanu (70kg) and Nupur Sheoran (+80kg) also have been added to the women’s national team for this event.

Jadumani Singh Mandengbam had great youth competitions but he shined also among the elites at the 50kg where he was named as a medal contender.

Sachin Siwach Jr. was near to qualify for the Olympics last year and he could be a highlight at the men’s 60kg weight class.

Abhinash Jamwal has the experience to make surprises at the men’s 65kg while Sumit Kundu returns to the national squad after three years of break.

Narender Berwal is the veteran in the men’s national team and the 31-year-old is still India’s best option at the super heavyweight.

Pawan Bartwal (55kg), Hitesh Gulia (70kg), Lakhsya Chahar (80kg), Jugnoo Ahlawat (85kg) and Harsh Chaudhary (90kg) all have the international experience as well.
