Mongolia will compete with three previous World medallists in Liverpool

Mongolia is planning to send ten boxers to the upcoming World Boxing Championships which will be starting in Liverpool on September 4.

Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg is a silver medallist from the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships and the 30-year-old boxer has the chance to repeat that at the 48kg weight class in Liverpool.

Balsan Mungunsaran is 25 but she has more than eight years of international experience to make surprises at the women’s 51kg.

Mongolia’s high-ranked female boxer, Yesugen Oyuntsetseg qualified for the Paris Olympics and she moved up to the 54kg this year successfully.

Mongolia’s next female ace, Enkhjargal Munguntsetseg was also qualified for the Paris Olympics as Yesugen Oyuntsetseg and she has already one bronze medal from a World Championship.

The technician Namuun Monkhor claimed her first World medal as a junior in 2015 and she moved back to her best category, the 60kg to achieve her next career highlight in Liverpool.

Aldarkhishig Battulga won the World Boxing Cup Finals in Sheffield one year ago and he has the experience to earn a medal at the men’s 50kg.

The Kharkhuu family has a strong brand name in Mongolia, and their youngest one, Bilgunsaikhan will compete at the 55kg as a World Championships’ debutant.  

The 23-year-old Gantumur Lundaa claimed a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Elite Boxing Championships and the energetic boxer developed well in physical skills this year.

Next to the Mongolian girls, Battumur Misheelt is another World medallist, he earned a bronze at the 2023 edition in Tashkent and he found the best category, the 65kg.

Otgonbaatar Byamba-Erdene is the oldest boxer in the men’s elite national team who competed in the recent World Championships, Asian Games and Asian Boxing Championships as well.
