Spain selected Olympic, World and European medallists for Liverpool
Spain selected several Olympic, European and World medallists to the upcoming World Boxing Championships which will be starting in Liverpool on September 4.
Marta Lopez Del Arbol moved down to the 48kg which is her best category and she enjoyed all of her international tournaments in the recent one year.
Laura Fuertes claimed Spain’s first ever bronze medal in the history of the Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2022 and she qualified also for the Paris Olympics.
The European Youth and Junior Championships medallist Noelia Gutierrez is only 19-year-old but she has more than ten years of experience in boxing.
Jenifer Fernandez joined the women’s national team in 2018 and she won several big battles during her career and she increased the intensity of her training sessions this year.
The Boxam Tournament winner Mariana Soto is one of the most progressed female boxers in Spain while Dunia Martinez also added to the travelling team.
Martin Molina earned a gold medal in the European Championships in 2022 and after two poor years, the 31-year-old veteran will return at the men’s 50kg.
Rafael Lozano Serrano achieved a historic gold for Spain in one of the previous European Youth Championships and he qualified for the Paris Olympics at the age of 20 last year. The young prospect moved up to the 55kg weight class
Enrique Kakulov replaced the Olympian Jose Quiles at the 60kg while the European U22 Champion and Paris Olympian Oier Ibarreche will compete at the 65kg.
Frank Martinez added to the squad while a former Cuban boxer, Adrian Fresneda received the Spanish passport in time to compete at the 85kg in Liverpool.
The most experienced Spanish male boxer, the Olympic and World bronze medallist 33-year-old Emmanuel Reyes is still hungry for the further successes.
