Carlo Paalam will lead Team Philippines in Liverpool

The Philippines will send seven boxers including the Olympic medallist Carlo Paalam to the upcoming World Boxing Championships which will be starting in Liverpool on September 4.

The Philippines claimed medals in the recent two Olympic Games in Tokyo and in Paris, marking the new golden era of the country in boxing.

The Philippines built up a new team next to their experienced boxers and the country is focusing not only to the World Boxing Championships but to the upcoming Southeast Asian Games.

Ofelia Magno competed at the Ulaanbaatar Cup, the last edition of the Asian Elite Championships and the recent Thailand Open Tournament but she is still newcomer at the women’s 48kg weight class.

Philippines’ second female boxer in the squad, Riza Pasuit is a 32-year-old boxer at the women’s 60kg weight class who has several years of international experience and she won the Thailand Open Tournament in April 2022.

Jay Bryan Baricuatro claimed a bronze medal at the 2024 Asian Boxing Championships and the 20-year-old talent competed in several top events in the recent two years to show his amazing progress at the men’s 50kg weight class.

Philippines’ icon, Carlo Paalam is the strongest and most experienced in the participating team, the Tokyo Olympics silver medallist and the Asian Champion is ready to earn another top result at the men’s 55kg in Liverpool.

Junmilardo Ogayre competed first in the international stage in 2018 and the 60kg weight class boxer competed in various events in the recent one year.

Mark Ashley Fajardo is one of the biggest punchers at the men’s 65kg weight class, he knocked out several of his opponents in the recent two and half years.

The fifth male member of the Filipino national team is the 26-year-old Ronald Chavez Jr. at the men’s 70kg weight class.
