Seven World Champions included to Team Kazakhstan in Liverpool
Out of the 20 boxers from Kazakhstan, seven are already World Champions who will compete at the upcoming World Boxing Championships.
The Olympic medallist Nazym Kyzaibay is already a three-time World Champion but the 32-year-old boxer is still hungry for her next titles in the smallest female weight class.
Alua Balkybekova and Aida Abikeyeva are further World Champions in their female national team and both have been selected to participate in Liverpool as well.
The former World medallist Karina Ibragimova (57kg), the tall Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60kg), Natalya Bogdanova (70kg), Gulsaya Yerzhan (80kg) and Yeldana Talipova (+80kg) are the reigning Asian Elite Champions.
The Youth World Champion 21-year-old Elina Bazarova was the best boxer at the Asian U22 Boxing Championships while the Tokyo Olympian Nadezhda Ryabets have returned to the team this year.
Sanzhar Tashkenbay (50kg), Makhmud Sabyrkhan (55kg) and Nurbek Oralbay (80kg) all earned gold medals at the 2023 World Boxing Championships in Tashkent. The trio are expecting new strong results in Liverpool where all of them were named among the favourites.
Bekzat Nurdauletov bagged his World Championships’ title still back in 2019 but the 27-year-old boxer regained his place in the national team at the 85kg.
Nurbek’s twin brother, Aibek Oralbay is the reigning Asian Champion at the super heavyweight while Sagyndyk Togambay also earned an Asian title last December.
Torekhan Sabyrkhan is one of the biggest talents in the globe and after his Youth World title and four Asian gold medals, he is ready to shine among the elites.
The former Asian Youth Champion Beybarys Zheksen (60kg), the experienced Yertugan Zeynulinov (65kg) and the 2021 Youth World Champion Sabyrzhan Akkalykov (75kg) are still the further travelling members.
