European Champions included to the Bulgarian squad in Liverpool

Bulgaria will send a strong team with plenty of medal contenders to the upcoming World Boxing Championships which will be starting in Liverpool on September 4.

Mr. Joel Arrete, Mr. Valentin Poptolev, Mr. Aleksandar Aleksandrov, Mr. Borislav Georgiev and Mr. Roman Tsvetkov will be the coaches of the delegation.

The two-time European Champion Sevda Asenova is the veteran in their women’s national team who involved to the national team in 2007 but she has still the speed to beat the younger opponents in Liverpool.

Venelina Poptoleva bagged a gold medal at the 2013 Youth World Boxing Championships and she returned with a European silver in 2022.

The European Youth silver medallist Aleyna Mehmed is a young prospect in the women’s national team and the 80kg boxer has a chance to earn a medal in Liverpool.

Ergyunal Sebahtin is a European Championship silver medallist who has all the routine to reach the semi-final stage at the men’s 50kg.

The European Games winner and the Paris Olympics bronze medallist Javier Ibanez moved down to the 55kg weight class where he is one of the favourites.

The brilliant Radoslav Rosenov is a multiple European Champion and he qualified for the Paris Olympics as well and the 60kg is the best for his height.

Rami Kiwan developed so rapidly in the recent two years and he became not only Olympian in 2024 but a European Champion as well.

Their 80kg boxer, William Cholov won European titles as a schoolboy, junior and youth boxer and he is planning to make a breakthrough among the elites in Liverpool.

The European Games bronze medallist Yordan Hernandez Morejon is Bulgaria’s ex-Cuban super heavyweight boxer in the team.

Their new 19-year-old prodigy Viktorio Iliev shined in the Feliks Stamm, while Simion Boldirev is another teenage talent in the squad.
