Grosy and Cesar are ready to fly high for France in Liverpool
The host of the last Olympics, France selected five female and six male boxers to the upcoming World Boxing Championships which will be starting in Liverpool on September 4.
The European U22 Champion Romane Moulai started the year as best boxer in the Golden Girl and the 48kg weight class is perfect for her height and physical skills.
Wassila Lkhadiri earned her first European medal in 2014 at the age of 19 and since then she competed in all levels of boxing with impressive performance.
Melissa Bounoua is a new addition to the team, but she competed in various international events in Bulgaria, in Finland, in Poland and in Kazakhstan this year.
Sthelyne Grosy put herself into the spotlight when she earned a silver medal at the 2021 Youth World Boxing Championships and following her progress, she is a medal favourite at the women’s 57kg weight class.
Maelys Richol turned to 20 this year and the 2022 Youth World medallist has the technical repertoires to beat the top boxers as well at the women’s 65kg.
The bronze medallist from the Strandja, Christopher Hippocrate is another 20-year-old talent in the squad but he has the speed to make surprises at the men’s 55kg.
Lounes Hamraoui is the most experienced men’s elite boxer in the French squad and the European silver medallist moved down to the 60kg this year.
Hugo Grau and the European Games bronze medallist, Paris Olympian Makan Traore both have strong development in the recent two years.
The European U23 Champion Yojerlin Cesar is the biggest male talent in the French national team and he wants to repeat his performance at the last World Boxing Cup where he earned a gold medal.
Their 90kg boxer, the 27-year-old Soheb Bouafia could not qualify for the Paris Olympics but he has seven years of experience in the men’s elite squad.
