Indonesia’s Women Power in Boxing – Their new President is Dr. Hillary Brigitta Lasut
Dr. Hillary Brigitta Lasut, S.H., L.L.M, is the new President in the Indonesian Boxing Federation, the Pertina following the elections have concluded in their capital city in Jakarta.
She became Indonesia’s first female President in boxing and the 29-year-old official has strong plans to develop boxing in the fourth most populated country in the world.
Mrs. Lasut was the youngest member of the House of Representatives in Indonesia between 2019 and 2024. She is elected as a female member of the House of Representatives with the Highest Vote Count Nationwide in 2024. She is member of the Commission XI and the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body since 2024.
One of the top Asian Technical Delegates, Mrs. Shelly Selowati H. Soejono was Indonesia’s first woman Vice-President in the National Federation in the last decade.
Mrs. Shelly returned to that position and she will support the new President with her experience, boxing knowledge and connections worldwide.
Another Vice-President in the Indonesian Boxing Federation is also a female, Mrs. Trinovi Khairani and the new management contains experts and people who have the strong will to develop all aspects of boxing.
Indonesia has now women power in boxing, their management has also strong governmental connections, direct access to the main decision makers.
Indonesia is planning to join back the boxing map more actively and their national teams are expected to compete abroad more often than in the past.
Their best female boxer Huswatun Hasanah claimed a bronze medal at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games and a silver at the 2021 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai.
Their next goal this year is the Southeast Asian Games which will be taking place in Bangkok, Thailand on December.
