Scotland, Spain, England, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amazed in the World Boxing Championships on Day2

Scotland, Spain, England, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amazed in the second competition day at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.

Kazakhstan’s Asian Champion Karina Ibragimova controlled the three round against Greece’s 19-year-old Panagiota Kouzilou.

The Olympian Alyssa Mendoza had a tough first round against Colombia’s Valeria Arboleda and her South American opponent gained the control in the second period to eliminate her US opponent at the women’s 57kg.

Hungary’s Luca Hamori tried to move a lot on feet in the first round against Kazakhstan’s World Champion Aida Abikeyeva but her opponent made a big U-turn in the second to beat the Hungarian in a top fight.

England’s European U23 Champion Sacha Hickey is a top boxer at the 65kg but she had to do her technician performance against United States’ Paris Olympian Morelle McCane to join the Round of 16.

Poland’s Kinga Krowka spent a short time in the ring against New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson when the referee confirmed her RSC success while Colombia’s Angie Paola Valdes, Scotland’s Caitlin Rainey and South Korea’s Kang Suk Young also impressed at the 65kg.

Canada’s Joshua Ofori has joined the elite national team only this year but he had the strength to beat Australia’s No.1, Callum Peters before Azerbaijan’s ex-Uzbek Saidjamshid Jafarov shined in the next men’s 75kg bout.

The Scots are in top shape in this World Championships, Alan Perrie eliminated Hungary’s Soma Mester at the 75kg and his teammate, Robert McNulty continued the country’s winning path against Lithuania’s Darius Voisnarovic at the 85kg.

The favourites of the men’s +90kg as Germany’s Nikita Putilov, Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov, Cuba’s Julio Cesar La Cruz, England’s Damar Thomas and United States’ Kelvin Watts all advanced to the Round of 16.
