Pacquiao vs. Romero eyed for January

Manny Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs) is expected to return in ring on January next year, in a pay-per-view card on Amazon Prime.

Boxing legend is aiming to fight WBA World welterweight champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero (17-2, 13 KOs).

Pacquiao would be 47 in time of fight. He returned in ring on July, fighting to a majority draw against WBC World welterweight champion Mario Barrios. Pacquiao, the only eight-division champion, is aiming to break his record as oldest fighter to win welterweight title.

“We would have loved to fight again before the end of the year, but the timing didn’t work out,” Pacquiao’s longtime adviser, Sean Gibbons, told ESPN. “2026 will be a new year with new beginnings and hopefully a new opponent. I think the perfect time for Manny to make a statement to come back is January, and I think the perfect opponent is Rolly Romero.”
