Amazing English girls in the quarter-finals of the European U19 Boxing Championships

The English girls dominated the quarter-finals at the European U19 Boxing Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Day6.

Altogether 105 female and 189 male boxers from 33 nations are attending at the European U19 Boxing Championships.

Nadia Formela and her teammate, Oliwia Wasiakowska started the day with victories in the quarter-finals over their Belgian and Hungarian opponents and they continued Poland’s strong performance in women’s boxing.

Ukraine’s Taisia Pokusai had difficult moments against Germany’s promising Josefin Rovira Rifaterra but she managed to win one of the tightest female semi-finals on Day6.

England’s U19 World Champion and multiple European Champion Ruby White dominated her quarter-final over Italy’s Maria Librato and she joined the semi-finals of the women’s 51kg where she will now meet Ireland’s Kayleigh Byrne.

England’s favourite, Caitlyn Wise needed less than one round to beat Latvia’s Viktorija Kovalova but Ireland’s Grace Conway Dowling also amazed with her great performance against the local top girl, Julie Polednikova.

England’s next boxer in action was Tyika Thomas-Soldiew who used her longer reach to beat France’s Irina Creuse Da Silva at the 65kg but Czech Republic’s Viktorie Jilkova and Turkey’s Yagmur Teke are also semi-finalists.

Germany’s U19 World Championships silver medallist Mohamed Al Manouchi moved up to the 55kg weight category this year but he had the strength and the longer hands to beat Belgium’s Abdullah Ahmad by RSC.

Azerbaijan’s Zidan Hunbatov is a top name at the men’s 55kg weight category and he had the control over Italy’s talented Sasha Mencaroni to secure his place in the last four where he can expect a hard battle against England’s Mohammad Riza Safari.
