Mason Long kept his opponent on long while Patrick Hourican also stormed to the next stage

England’s Mason Long kept his opponent on long successfully while Ireland’s Patrick Hourican also stormed into the next stage at the European U15 Boxing Championships in Budva.

Scotland’s Cole Meechan and Romania’s Auras Cantar started the third competition day in Budva and the results of their contest was not clear after two rounds. After the equal performance, the Romanian impressed in the decisive third round and he earned a medal.

Ireland’s Ronan Charles has almost a perfect boxing record and he continued his winning path at the 42kg against Latvia’s Deniss Hascenko. Azerbaijan’s Onur Gurbanov dictated the tempo against Israel’s Arkan Zoubi and he achieved the next guaranteed medal.

England’s Mason Long had a brilliant counter-attacking performance in the previous stage and he found the distance against Turkey’s Berkay S. Demir in the second round. Long kept the Turkish opponent on long in the third successfully and he demonstrated his technical skills once again.

Greece’s Nikolaos Oikonomou dominated his opener against Israel’s David Sold at the 52kg while Lithuania’s Albertas Ulcinskas also had a successful mission to beat Bulgaria’s Martin Raychev in the next contest.  

Spain’s Burgos-based Fidel Echevarria overcame Croatia’s Hrvoje Kunstovic in the attacks and he took the lead on the scorecards after 90 seconds and he continued in the same way.

Ireland’s Patrick Hourican was in trouble in the first round against Hungary’s Martin Homai who landed several effective hooks. The Irish ringside calmed down Hourican in the first break and he was able to turn back their close 52kg contest.

Poland’s Igor Jagiello also had a disadvantage on the scorecards after the first and he had a tight loss to the tall Ukrainian, Kyrylo Chumakov despite his great second round.
