Scotland and Greece made a great session in Budva but Bulgaria and Spain also have guaranteed medallists
Scotland and Greece claimed two impressive medals while Bulgaria and Spain also have semi-finalists at the European U15 Boxing Championships in Budva.
Bulgaria’s Ana Dobreva became the first U15 female medallist after beating Ukraine’s Ariana Ponomarova and she will face with England’s Madeline Arnot in the semi-finals.
Ireland’s Elliemay Fetherston trains in the Mulhuddart BC in Dublin and she was so excited about her debut in Budva. The Irish used her counter-attacking range against Czechia’s Julie Stara who gave in everything in the third but she was not able to turn back their semi-final.
Following Nasrin Abdullazada’s success at the 40kg, Scotland’s Sinita Kaur used her longer hands to keep the safest distance against Georgia’s Lizi Bakradze and she will be boxing in the semi-finals of the 42kg with Ireland’s Rosaletta Casey.
Ukraine’s Ilona Zhezhera won her first national title on March 2024 and she looked highly confident against Romania’s Daniela Ionica from the first seconds.
Ukraine’s Alina Ihnatovych and England’s Alice Cash dominated their 46kg quarter-finals over their Estonian and Croatian rivals. Turkey’s Ummugulsum Arli and Poland’s Amelia Joachimska won their medal bouts by points decisions.
Greece’s Niovi Papanikolopoulou controlled her quarter-final against Italy’s Greta Prosperi and she claimed her nation’s first medal. Georgia’s Elene Karchava used her international routine to beat England’s Jidapha Kettle in the next 48kg quarter-final.
Scotland’s second female medal was achieved by Jenna Dailly who had a very hard battle against Estonia’s Alisa Gerassimovits at the 48kg. Greece also achieved its second guaranteed medal when Stavroula Karageorgi defeated her Turkish opponent while Spain’s Adriana Munoz is also a semi-finalist in Budva.
