Spain and Azerbaijan earned historic U15 gold medals while England and Ukraine were the best nations in the women’s finals

The women’s finals are all concluded at the eighth competition day of the European U15 Boxing Championships in Budva where Spain and Azerbaijan earned historic medals with English and Ukrainian dominance.

Azerbaijan’s Nasrin Abdullazada moved forward more in the final in comparison to her previous bouts but this was perfect for England’s Madeline Laverick-Arnot who ruled the first title contest from her best distance.

Scotland’s Sinita Kaur controlled her previous bouts at the 42kg with long-distance strategy but Turkey’s Berna Akerdere prepared against her well enough. Kaur was more punctual in the second and third rounds and she claimed a gold medal for Scotland.

Georgia’s Elene Karchava was simply brilliant in the entire competition and she felt the fighting range well to beat Ireland’s Macie Duffy O’Connor in the next 48kg final bout.

Spain’s Adriana Munoz and Ukraine’s Viktoria Amelchenko both were patient in the exchanges and their chess game delivered low number of clear punches but it favoured for the Spaniard who earned a European title, the first for her nation in this age group.

Ukraine’s Vira Vasylenko turned back her final against Ireland’s Maicey Field and she deserved to win the European title at the 60kg. Roisin Hogarty made an Irish revenge in the next final, she had the better jabs than Ukraine’s Tetiana Zvenihorodska today.

England’s next sensation, Emily Denham did not underestimate her Romanian opponent, Erika Antonia Carp and she finished the final with a stoppage in the second round.

Azerbaijan’s first female gold medal in this age group was achieved by Khumar Jafarli at the 75kg following her triumph over Turkey’s Yagmur Eryurt. Poland’s Maja Hoffmann and her teammate, Amelia Stepien won the heaviest weight categories against Romanian opponents.
