The Bulgarian Boxing Federation plans to host the 2026 European Boxing Championships in Sofia

The President of the Bulgarian Boxing Federation, Mr. Krasimir Ininski issued a statement about his plans to host the next edition of the European Boxing Championships in Bulgaria on September 2026.

The Bulgarian Boxing Federation has a professional staff and the country hosted several top championships in the recent nearly 15 years.

The top Bulgarian boxers earned medals in the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, they had record-breaking quotas at the Paris Olympics and European Champions in all levels of the sport.

“Throughout the years, our Bulgarian Boxing Federation has established itself as a highly capable and reliable organizer. Together with our dedicated team, we have successfully staged numerous major championships, including European tournaments for women, for men and women under 23, as well as youth, junior and cadet competitions.

The Strandja Memorial Tournament has consistently stood out as a de facto a miniature world championship, leaving international participants deeply impressed by the level of organization and competition. We maintain excellent cooperation with our colleagues from World Boxing and European Boxing, and we possess the confidence, expertise, and capacity to host the European Championships for men and women. For that reason, we believe we will be entrusted with this recognition and responsibility next year,” stated Mr. Krasimir Ininski.

The continental championship is scheduled for September, and the Bulgarian Boxing Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Sport and Sofia Municipality.

The final negotiations with the leadership of World Boxing and European Boxing will take place in the upcoming days. The objective is to conclude these discussions successfully and for Bulgaria to be officially confirmed as the host.
