Ljungquist stops Huber, wins EBU Silver title

Danish heavyweight Kem Ljungquist (21-1) won the vacant EBU Silver title when he outclassed Swiss bulked up cruiserweight Benoit Huber (10-6) and stopped him at 1.38 minutes in round eleven on November 14 in Copenhagen. Huber was hurt by a right-left combination and was then floored by a southpaw left and Huber went down for the third time in the fight and it was stopped.
Huber was also down in the fourth and sixth and was second best throughout but kept trying with wild swings.
Ljungquist, ranked number nine by the WBA, took his time, stalked his opponent patiently, boxed behind his jab and wore down Huber. He will now be ranked number four by the EBU and is in a good position for lucrative fights abroad.
This was a rematch and Ljungquist beat Huber the first time as well at that time with the WBC International Silver Bridgerweight title on the line. There was no need for a second fight but every fighter in the EBU heavyweight ranking turned down the opportunity to fight Kem Ljungquist probably thinking that the risk was higher than the reward.
This was the sole pro fight on the bill as the classic Hvidovre BC celebrated its 100th anniversary.
