Mason outpoints Noakes in the fight for WBO World lightweight title
Abdullah Mason (20-0, 17 KOs) defeated Sam Noakes (17-1, 15 KOs) in a brutal fight and won the WBO World lightweight title.
Mason won via unanimous decision on Saturday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Judges scored the fight (117:111, 115:113 and 115:113) in favor of 21-year-old.
Mason became boxing’s current youngest men’s world champion.
In the other fight on card held in Saudi Arabia, Jesse Rodriguez (23-0) stopped Argentinian Fernando Daniel Martinez (18-1) in round 10 in a unification fight. Rodriguez is now WBA, WBC and WBO super-flyweight champion.
