The best 104 boxers remained in actions in Kienbaum

The best 104 boxers remained in actions at the European U17 Boxing Championships in Kienbaum, Germany after the last part of the quarter-finals.

Ireland arrived with excellent female boxers to Kienbaum and their Lucie Prentice opened the day with a clear success over Romania’s Iasmina-Georgiana Moraru at the 50kg.

Slovakia’s Dominika Vnukova reached several top results and the 16-year-old talent became a medallist in Kienbaum following her tight success over Ukraine’s Maria Rafalska at the 50kg.

Germany’s Sofia Waschenko is one of the top boxers in their female national team and she had the impressive dominance against Georgia’s Lile Vachadze to take a medal at the 66kg.

Ireland’s Sean Kelly dominated all of the three rounds against Hungary’s Tamas Onodi at the 52kg while his teammate at the 57kg, Kalib Walshe joined the medal phase winning his contest over France’s Djibril Bouaoun.

Georgia’s Zaza Mdinaridze eliminated a top rival in his preliminary bout and he had to do his very best once again in Kienbaum to beat Greece’s Eleftherios Zournatzis at the 52kg.

Hungary’s Istvan Czifra eliminated Georgian and French rivals during his road to the quarter-finals at the 63kg. The 16-year-old Hungarian used his virtuoso style of boxing to beat Germany’s Oliver Herz by 4:1 decision.

Bulgaria’s top female hope, Roberta Hadzhiyska controlled her quarter-final against Denmark’s Tilde Faurhoj at the women’s 48kg but England’s Serena Mali, Turkey’s Asmin Cabas and Azerbaijan’s Gular Huseynova delivered the best performances.

England’s Jaya Kalsi is one of the stars of the event and she dominated her quarter-final over Turkey’s Bengisu Karakoc at the 52kg.

Germany’s Lorin Sayim delivered the next top performance when she eliminated Italy’s Mira Amadori and she can expect a hard semi-final against Hungary’s Zsofia Kiss at the 57kg.

Sweden’s Ali Zaheer Changezi was too smart for Ukraine’s Andrii Konkoshev at the men’s 54kg and Turkey’s Muhammet Ali Arli also amazed in this weight category.
