Pena defends WBO Inter-Continental title, Timar new WBO atomweight champion

Angelo Pena (13-0, 7 KOs) has successfully defended his WBO Inter-Continental super-featherweight title, defeating on Friday in Bern, Switzerland the challenger from Philippines, Jeo Santisima (26-9, 22 KOs) via unanimous decision.

Pena controlled the fight from the beginning and all judges saw him as clear winner (98:92, 100:90 and 100:90). It was main event of show promoted by Swiss Pro Boxing headed by promoter Leander Strupler.

With victory against Santisima, a former world title challenger, Pena made another step towards a world title fight.

In co-main event Gabriela Timar (16-2) became the first Swiss boxer to win a world title in one major federation. Timar defeated Marina Loreto (8-1-2) of Japan in fight for vacant WBO World atomweight title.

Timar fought most of the fight with a broken nose, but managed to make history. Two judges saw her as winner (97:93 and 98:92) and one scored the fight as draw 95:95.

Felix Meier (7-0) defeated Javier Castaneda Dominguez (9-8-2) of Mexico via unanimous decision in an 8-rounder. Mehdi Ben Hamira (6-0), Leonid Berisha (2-0) and Gianni Lorenzo Passanante (2-0-1) got victories.
