Dalton Smith KOs Matias, wins WBC super-light title
Britain’s Dalton Smith (19-0, 14 KOs) is the news WBC World super-lightweight champion. Smith on Saturday night in Brooklyn, USA stopped champion Subriel Matias (23-3) in fifth round and won the WBC title.
Smith was leading on the scorecards of two judges until round fifth. In fifth round after combination of powerful punches he dropped Matias. Although Matias got up referee Ricky Gonzalez decided that he can’t continue.
“Bring on the challenges. I’m one of the best, if not the best in the division. I’m ready to mix it up with everyone,” Smith said after the fight.
