Buelga, Zhang and Zaja won the tightest contests in Bangkok on Day3

Spain’s Andrea Buelga, China’s Zhang Ju and Croatia’s Ema Zaja won the tightest contests at the World Boxing U19 Future Cup in Bangkok on Day3.

Chinese Taipei’s Kuo Chih Yen had an emerging success over Australia’s Maia Laird at the women’s 51kg while Uzbekistan’s Nazokat Mardonova eliminated Kazakhstan’s Asian Junior Champion Aiym Tankibayeva in another top bout in this weight.

Jordan and Bhutan both have new women teams and among them the first, Tala Hussein bowed out Sangay Peldon. Japan’s Riko Matsushita was better in the exchanges than Thailand’s Kanyaphat Baonok.

England’s Serena Mali was one of the favourites at the women’s 51kg but she lost to China’s technician Zhang Ju in a top bout. Spain’s Andrea Buelga was able to eliminate Philippines’ Ermalie Caballero also only by split decision in Bangkok.

Slovakia’s Dominika Vnukova worked well to beat Romania’s Natalia Maria Semeniciuc by 4:1 split decision at the 51kg on Day3.

DPR Korea’s Jon Un Gyong bowed out one of the bests at the women’s 54kg today, Uzbekistan’s Sabrina Chakomanova and she joined the next stage. Her teammate, Kim Yu Gyong defeated Hungary’s Lilla Dobondi in another hectic preliminary bout.

Uzbekistan’s Abdugani Yorkinjonov knocked out Libya’s Omar Abdulwahhab while India’s Ambekar Meetei Lairenlakpam, Japan’s Akira Uekubo, Thailand’s Thitiphan Khamrae and Turkmenistan’s Abdyrahym Ovezgulyyev continued the Asian dominance at the men’s 50kg.

Georgia’s Shalva Beridze is a fantastic talent at the 50kg but Kazakhstan’s Arman Myrsabit destroyed his defence with stormy attacks today. Australia’s Nathan Mlacic, Colombia’s Izzon Galea and Romania’s Ionut Calugar also won their preliminary contests with dominance.

Croatia’s Ema Andela Zaja caused a surprise in the evening session when she eliminated Thailand’s favourite Pemika Payungkasem but Mexico’s Atena Juarez, England’s No.1, Lily Bassett, Mongolia’s Altanzul Altangadas, Algeria’s Bouthainah Bouslah and Morocco’s Meryem Boukraa all shined at the 48kg.
