Natalia Niewiadomska made the surprise of the day at the Montenegro Elite Cup and the Serbians also had a great session in Budva
Poland’s teenager, Natalia Niewiadomska made a surprise in the Montenegro Elite Cup and the Serbian women boxers also shined in the session.
Montenegro is very busy hosting international events and after the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament, the Elite Cup is underway.
Kazakhstan sent a young female team to Montenegro and their Gulnaz Buribayeva opened her campaign successfully against Australia’s Alana Selak in a top contest at the women’s 48kg weight class.
Poland’s Natalia Niewiadomska was a quarter-finalist at the 2024 Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva and she returned to Montenegro as an elite boxer. The 19-year-old Polish defeated Ukraine’s World silver medallist Hanna Okhota, making an amazing debut among the elites.
Kyrgyzstan’s Milana Shikhshabekova was born also in 2007 as Niewiadomska and she won international youth events last year. The Kyrgyz proved her best in the session but another youngster, Serbia’s Nikolina Dzida, destroyed her dreams at the 51kg in Budva.
Ukraine’s former European Junior Champion Sofia Turbinina controlled the first and second rounds against Kosovo’s Agnesa Veseli and she finished the job in the third. Another young boxer at the women’s 51kg, Poland’s Nadia Formela had a successful strategy against Australia’s Leah Anderton.
Serbia’s Jelena Zekic and her teammate, Kristina Kuluhova are among Europe’s best boxers in their weight categories. The first eliminated Ukraine’s Oksana Bondarenko, while the second defeated Poland’s Wiktoria Hass in her new 60kg weight class.
Serbia’s World bronze medallist Anastasija Lukajic had a hard battle against Kazakhstan’s Assem Tanatar but she managed her path to the next stage at the 65kg. Poland’s duo such as Weronika Dziubek and Anastazja Michalek both succeeded in this weight category.
Australia’s Joey Cartwright is a new face in their national team and this Montenegro Elite Cup is her opener out of her country but she defeated a more experienced boxer, Ukraine’s Anastasia Saraniuk at the 65kg.
