Munguia set to fight Resendiz for WBA World title

Jaime Munguia (45-2, 35 KOs) is set to fight Jose Armando Resendiz (16-2, 11 KOs) for WBA World super-middleweight title on May 2 in Las Vegas, ESPN reports.

Resendiz was supposed to defend the title against Jermall Charlo (34-0, 23 KOs). But Charlo withdrew from the fight, for undisclosed reasons.

Charlo’s withdrawal came just hours after sources confirmed that he would challenge Resendiz. Fight will be co-main event of Gilbert Ramirez’s unified cruiserweight title defense against David Benavidez.
