Chinese Taipei’s Olympic Champion Lin Yu Ting had a successful comeback in Ulaanbaatar
Chinese Taipei’s Olympic Games winner Lin Yu Ting returned with a great victory over a top Thai opponent at the Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Mongolia’s capital city, in Ulaanbaatar on Day2.
Bhutan, China, DPR Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam are the 21 participating nations in Ulaanbaatar.
Thailand’s defending Asian Champion Punrawee Ruenros is one of the gold medal favourites at the women’s 57kg and she started her campaign well enough to beat Vietnam’s Nguyen Huyen Tran with technician style of boxing.
Chinese Taipei’s Olympic Champion Lin Yu Ting returned to the competitions in this event in Ulaanbaatar and she proved her extraordinary technical skills once again to beat Thailand’s World silver medallist Thananya Somnuek at the 60kg.
Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor claimed her first main international medal still back in 2015 when she was only 16. The Asian silver medallist moved back to her best category, the 60kg, and she eliminated Tajikistan’s Bibinashastamo Kholova with precise combinations.
India’s Priya is a promising boxer who started the year with a gold medal at the Boxam Elite Tournament in Spain this February. The Indian used her footwork to find the best angles against Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volosenko and she eliminated one of the former Asian Champions of the women’s 60kg.
Chinese Taipei’s Peng Chia Feng opened the year with a bronze medal at the Boxam Tournament and the super talented teenager used his brilliant technical skills to beat Singapore’s Clayden Teo Han Shern at the men’s 55kg.
China’s Liu Chuang claimed a bronze medal at the 2025 World Championships and he is one of their most progressed boxers in the men’s team. The 23-year-old boxer had a tough opener against Thailand’s teenager, Bokhunthod Kangpi, but he managed that hard job at the 55kg preliminary.
