Uzbekistan takes half dozens of the gold medals at the Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament
Uzbekistan won half dozens of gold medals at 40th Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament in Warsaw, Poland in the men’s finals of the competition.
Poland hosted the recent editions of the Feliks Stamm Tournament in various cities but the competition returned to Warsaw.
Italy’s Salvatore Attrattivo is a new face in the elite national team but he exceeded all of the expectations with his success over Poland’s experienced Jakub Slominski and Mongolia’s speedy Aldarkhishig Battulga at the men’s 50kg.
Uzbekistan’s World Champion and Asian Games winner Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov was fantastic in the entire tournament and he defeated the second Mongolian finalist, Bilguunsaikhan Kharkhuu at the 55kg final.
Poland’s 24-year-old Pawel Brach eliminated Lithuania’s veteran Edgaras Skurdelis in the last four at the men’s 60kg and he continued his winning path against Italy’s Michele Baldassi who had great youth and U22 results during his career.
Uzbekistan’s Olympic Champion and World Champion Asadkhudja Muydinkhudjayev dominated the men’s 65kg in Warsaw, the top star of the event was too experienced for Bulgaria’s 19-year-old Viktorio Iliev in the title bout.
Sweden’s Kevin Scott delivered bowed out Poland’s two-time Olympian and European Champion Damian Durkacz in the semi-finals but he suffered a loss at the 70kg final to another local boxer, Cezary Znamiec.
Uzbekistan’s Youth World Champion Fazliddin Erkinboyev had impressive counter-attacks against Bulgaria’s Paris Olympian Rami Kiwan at the 75kg final while his teammates such as Javokhir Ummataliyev (80kg) and the 19-year-old Akmaljon Isroilov both dominated their gold medal contests.
Poland’s ex-Kazakh Aleksey Sevostyanov and Uzbekistan’s five-time Asian Champion Jakhongir Zokirov won the two heaviest weight categories in Warsaw.
