Hamori and Gemini eliminated stars at the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem

Hungary’s Luca Hamori and Italy’s Melissa Gemini caused the surprises in the women’s semi-finals at the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem.

The Grand Prix Usti nad Labem is one of the traditional competitions next to the Strandja, the Bocskai, the Golden Gloves, the Belgrade Winner, the Tammer, the Boxam and the Gee Bee Tournament.

Slovakia’s Nicole Durikova started the year with a gold medal at the Boxam Tournament in Spain and she is a finalist in a top event once again, she defeated Mexico’s Alexa Gomez which means that she can box for the gold medal with Hikaru Shinohara of Japan.

Japan’s next female finalist will be Yuna Nishinaka who had a tight success over Germany’s Paris Olympian Maxi Kloetzer and the newcomer to the national team will be boxing for the title with Finland’s Pihla Kaivo-Oja at the 51kg.

United States’ duo at the 54kg and 57kg weight categories, Yoseline Perez and Alyssa Mendoza both had experienced rivals in their semi-finals but the youngsters managed their pathways to the finals of the competition.

Canada’s Marie Al Ahmadieh joined to the elite national team at the age of 19 and she progressed a lot in the recent two years to eliminate such technician opponents as Japan’s Asian silver medallist Ayaka Taguchi which means that she will now face another strong rival, Rebeca Santos of Brazil.

Hungary’s Luca Hamori caused a surprise in the semi-finals of the 65kg weight class when she defeated United States’ Morelle McCane with long-distance tactics and she will have a repeat match in the final against Belgium’s Oshin Derieuw.

Brazil’s strong contenders, Barbara Dos Santos (70kg) and Viviane Pereira (75kg) joined the finals of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem while Italy’s Melissa Gemini caused the next surprise when she eliminated Norway’s Sunniva Hofstad.
