Strong Brazilians, Japanese and Canadians at the men’s finals in Usti nad Labem

Brazil, Japan and Canada amazed with their performance at the men’s semi-finals of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem in Czechia.

Japan’s Soushi Makino claimed a medal at the Asian U22 Championships during his career but he upgraded all of his skills since that event. The 50kg is perfect for his height and physical condition which he showed against Italy’s Salvatore Attrattivo in the semi-finals.

Brazil’s Michael Trindade moved up to the 55kg weight category and worked well enough in the final round to eliminate Mongolia’s Bilguunsaikhan Kharkhuu which means that he will now face with Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi for the gold medal.

The next top Brazilian, Luiz Oliveira has brilliant technical skills and he used his speedy footwork to catch England’s Leo Wood in the first semi-final of the men’s 60kg and he will now meet Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto for the gold.

Another strong Brazilian boxer, Kaian Oliveira Reis turned 23 last month and he is shining in this Grand Prix in Usti nad Labem. The 70kg boxer destroyed Czechia’s Kelvin Soquessa’s defence in their semi-final and he managed his pathway to the final.

Canada’s Joshua Ofori is a new addition to their national squad but he exceeded the expectations with his successes over strong European opponents.

Hungary’s Paris Olympian Pylyp Akilov has strong Ukrainian roots but he represents his new nation since 2022. The Hungarian 80kg boxer was able to beat also United States’ World Champion, Robby Gonzales therefore he will now meet Canada’s Denis Nickenson.

Brazil’s Isaias Filho was gold medallist at the 2021 Cologne Boxing World Cup but he had to wait for four years to be there in their A-squad. The 23-year-old boxer moved up to the 90kg and he not only adopted the strong punches but dominated his semi-final over Germany’s Yasse Cise.
