Diego Lenzi’s KO closed the finals of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem

Italy’s Diego Lenzi knocked out his final US opponent at the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem in Czechia on Day4.

Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi made his international debut at the 2022 Youth World Championships and was punctual in the final against Brazil’s Michael Trindade and he bagged the title of the Grand Prix.

The next male final battle was also held between Brazil and Japan at the 60kg weight class in Usti nad Labem. The Panamerican Champion Luiz Gabriel Oliveira was slightly better than Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto to take the gold medal of this weight class.

Mongolia’s Bat-Ulzii Erdenetsogt had a surprise success over Japan’s technician Shion Nishiyama at the 65kg and following that final Brazil’s Kaian Oliveira Reis outpointed England’s Callum Makin at the 70kg.

Italy’s Gabriele Guidi Rontani and Canada’s Joshua Ofori advanced to the final of the 75kg division despite their relatively less international routine. The Canadian ruled the middle of the ring and he looked stronger in the exchanges to win his first ever international event.

Hungary’s Pylyp Akilov eliminated the 2021 World Champion, Robby Gonzales of the Unites States in the semi-finals and he met a Canadian, Denis Nickenson. Both boxers were patient and in their strategic game Akilov was better minutes by minutes and the Hungarian deserved to win the title of the 80kg weight class.

Brazil’s Isaias Filho was patient against United States’ Malachi Georges, the 23-year-old South American won the title of the men’s 90kg weight class.

Italy’s Diego Lenzi was smaller than Unites States’ Kelvin Watts but he used his quick attacks to catch the bigger opponent at the +90kg weight category. Lenzi landed lethal punches in the first part of the final and he knocked out the US newcomer to earn the title of the king’s class.
