Oliveira, Sabyrkhan and Oralbay managed their paths to the next stage in Astana

Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira and the Kazakh stars won their amazing battles at the Astana World Boxing Cup on Day2.

Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Dominican Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nigeria, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United States and Uzbekistan are the 29 participating nations at the Astana World Boxing Cup.

Dominican Republic’s Junior Alcantara, the Paris Olympics bronze medallist, moved up to the 55kg weight category this year and he had an emotional success over a new US boy, Orlando Zamora in Astana.

Kazakhstan’s World Champion and Asian Champion Makhmud Sabyrkhan landed several body shots and he stopped South Korea’s Shin Jae Yong’s attacks to win their 55kg meeting easily in the front of the home crowd.

Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira had to meet in the preliminary stage of the men’s 60kg with one of the stars, Bulgaria’s Paris Olympics bronze medallist Javier Ibanez and after his long-range tactics, he bowed out one of the favourites.

United States’ World Champion Robby Gonzales had a surprise loss in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem but he returned in Astana in a top shape and he eliminated Australia’s Marlon Sevehon at the 80kg weight class.

France’s Yojerlin Cesar, the European U22 Champion, is one of the best male boxers in the national team who had a technician performance against Kyrgyzstan’s powerful Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu to win their 80kg contest.

Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Oralbay, the World Champion and one of the aces in the national team, controlled the first round against Azerbaijan’s Murad Allahverdiyev and he demonstrated his power in this 80kg bout.
