Kitamoto, Cesar and Oliveira eliminated top names in Astana on Day4

Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto, France’s Yojerlin Cesar and Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira defeated top names at the Astana World Boxing Cup on Day4.

Dominican Republic’s Junior Alcantara was too quick for France’s Christopher Hippocrate at the men’s 55kg weight class where Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi, Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan and Bulgaria’s Yasen Radev all remained their chances alive to take the gold medal.

Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira had a hard job against India’s Sachin but he managed his pathway to the next stage of boxing at the men’s 60kg weight class in a superb technician contest.

Kazakhstan’s Serik Temirzhanov moved back to the 60kg and he used his best combinations against Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto. His opponent not only adopted the rhythm of the bout but surprisingly Kitamoto made a big U-turn to eliminate Temirzhanov today.

France’s Makan Traore claimed a bronze medal at the 2023 European Games which guaranteed his participation at the Paris Olympics. The French boxer is in top shape this year and he did not underestimate Azerbaijan’s Nabi Isgandarov to win their quarter-final unanimously.

Brazil’s Kaian Reis, the winner in Usti nad Labem, continued his amazing series and he became one of the semi-finalists at the men’s 70kg after his success over England’s Patrick Hewitt while Mongolia’s Byamba-Erdene Otgonbaatar is another boxer in the last four.

France’s Yojerlin Cesar used his best tactics to beat Brazil’s World silver finisher Wanderley Pereira and the European U22 Champion can prepares to a crucial semi-final against United States’ 2021 World Champion Robby Gonzales.

Azerbaijan’s Mahammad Abdullayev, Kazakhstan’s reigning Asian Champion Aibek Oralbay, India’s veteran Narender Berwal and Germany’s Nikita Putilov are the semi-finalists at the men’s +90kg.
