USA announced its 14-strong squad for the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool
The World Boxing Championships will start in Liverpool on September 4 and one of the top squads, the United States officially announced its line-ups for the most important event of the year.
Laredo’s 22-year-old Jennifer Lozano moved up to the women’s 51kg weight class after her participation at the Paris Olympic Games.
Another young talent from Texas, Yoseline Perez represented Team USA at the 2023 Panamerican Games and she returned to the national squad.
Idaho’s Alyssa Mendoza was the team member at the Panamerican Games as well and the 22-year-old featherweight (57kg) qualified for the Paris Olympics.
Glendora’s lightweight (60kg) No.1, the former Youth World Champion Jajaira Gonzalez returned to the squad and she competed in preparation events this year.
Cleveland’s Morelle McCane moved down to the 65kg weight class and she impressed in her recent international events such as at the Olympics in Paris and at the Panamerican Games as well.
Naomi Graham, one of the US veteran girls will return at the World Championships and additionally the young Isabella Winkler is the new face in their female squad.
California’s Orlando Zamora is a 19-year-old talent at the 55kg weight class while Delaware’s Carlos Flowers will represent the US team at the 70kg weight class.
Robby Gonzales is the biggest name in the US Elite Male Rooster, the 2021 World Champion was not able to qualify for the Paris Olympics but he did not give up his dreams.
Malachi Georges defeated a teenager, Rishon Sims 2024 USA National Boxing Championships and he was selected to the team at the 90kg.
Virginia’s Kelvin Watts is a native talent at the super heavyweight (+90kg) while Newark’s Ramon Ordonez (60kg) and Houston’s Rene Camacho (65kg) were also involved to the travelling squad.
