McCormack stops Parra in WBA welterweight eliminator

Pat McCormack (8-0, 6 KOs) dominated and stopped Miguel Parra (25-6-1) of Mexico in the WBA World welterweight title eliminator held in Houghton le Spring, England on Saturday night.

McCormack won every round and Parra decided no to come out of corner in round 10.

“He was tough, kept coming, was small, but I broke him down,” McCormack said. “He was in the top 15, got him out of there. Some of the shots were bouncing off him, but he was definitely the toughest [McCormack has fought].

“It was a good experience, I’ve only been 10 [rounds] once, but was getting stronger as time went.”

WBA World welterweight champion is Roland Romero (17-2, 13 KOs).
