The best women talents all shined in their openers in Ostrava
The best women talents shined in their openers at the European U19 Boxing Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Poland’s Natalia Niewiadomska impressed in the recent one year, and the 18-year-old boxer opened her campaign well enough against Romania’s Maria Duta.
France’s Mathilda Fragnieres won the last preparation competition, the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament at the 48kg weight class. The French boxer used her excellent footwork against Czech Republic’s Eliska Ostra and she won their meeting by RSC in the second.
Poland’s Nadia Formela and her coaches built up a great strategy against Hungary’s European Junior medallist Patricia Petriman and her long-distance tactics paid off in their women’s 51kg bout.
Ukraine’s European Youth Champion Taisia Pokusai won several events in the recent four years and she landed hard punches against Romania’s talented Maria Simeniciuc to win their 51kg bout in the Round of 16.
Germany’s Josefin Rovira Rifaterra claimed medals at the Brandenburg Cup and also at the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament but she had to keep the full focus to beat Greece’s Maria Georgopoulou at the 51kg.
England’s U19 World Champion Ruby White is one of the top stars of the competition in Ostrava and she had a perfect start with a stoppage against Lithuania’s Milda Altaraviciute at the 51kg.
France’s top favourite at the women’s 54kg weight class, the Youth World silver medallist Maloe Teresi was too experienced for Germany’s Assia El Fachtali and she won all of the three rounds in each of the scorecard.
Netherlands’ U19 World silver medallist Aaliyah Hoppema and Ukraine’s European Champion Yulia Stupakova met in an early final at the Round of 16. The 18-year-old Dutch girl landed the stronger punches and she won this key contest at the women’s 65kg.
