Outstanding Georgian junior start in La Nucia

The Georgian junior boxers had remarkable performance in the opening day of the new edition of the Boxam Youth & Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Tournament in La Nucia today.

Moldova’s Alexandru Untila worked from counter-attacking distance against Spain’s David Gonzalez in the lone schoolboy contest of the day. The Spaniard knocked down the Moldovan in the second round and Untila’s father abandoned the opening contest.

Georgia’s Shalva Beridze had the strong height advantage against Mexico’s Freddy Castillo and he used his brilliant style of boxing to win their junior light flyweight (48kg) contest.

Georgia’s Elnur Ismailovi won the selection bout against his teammate, Zaza Mdinaridze at the junior flyweight (50kg) and another two Georgian met at the lightweight (60kg). Beka Okruashvii and Sandro Kapanadze both are experienced in the international stage and the first won their important selection.

Mexico’s new ace, Josue Zepeda delivered the next brilliant performance in the junior age group, he used his excellent technical skills to stop Colombia’s Edwin Stiven Galvis at the lightweight (60kg).

Georgia’s duo as Tamo Gabelia (63kg) and Yuriy Grigoryan (75kg) both advanced to the next stage of boxing after their points decision victories while Mexico’s small heavyweight (+80kg) talent, Ramiro Nunez defeated Spain’s Raul Iglesias.

Raymundo Vazquez competed in all of the Mexican national events in the recent two years and the 18-year-old boxer won the tight first round against Chris Wurisch but his Swiss opponent turned back their 50kg contest.

Spain’s Ayoub El Mousaoui and his teammate, Christyan Rodriguez both won their openers in the Boxam at the 55kg, the first stopped James McCann, while Rodriguez had a hectic bout against Portugal’s Rodrigo Rocha.
