Twenty boxers advanced to the finals of the European U19 Boxing Championships

The first part of the semi-finals all concluded at the European U19 Boxing Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Azerbaijan’s Banuchichak Nasirli exceeded the previous expectations and she will be a finalist at the European U19 Boxing Championships where she will now meet France’s top favourite, Mathilda Fragnieres.

England’s Ela-Mae Lonsdale had a very tough contest against Netherlands’ Liz Thijssen but she had the routine to win this 60kg semi-final by 4:1 split decision which means that she will face France’s Maely Panizzutti for the gold.

Romania’s Daniela Larisa Gheba became her nation’s first finalist in Ostrava after beating Poland’s Milena Ataman at the women’s 80kg weight category today.

Azerbaijan’s Bilalhabasi Nazarov was a hard target for Romania’s Razvan Ionut Panainte and his superior technical skills guaranteed his place in the final at the 50kg where he will meet Italy’s Tommaso Orlando.

The semi-finals of the men’s 70kg weight category delivered hectic contests and both finished with the result of 3:2. Georgia’s Akaki Basaria eliminated Romania’s Daniel Grigorie first, then Ukraine’s Vladyslav Chyniuk bowed out Norway’s Stefan Ogorelica.   

France’s Maloe Teresi started the evening session with a dominance against Romania’s Rebeca Micaela Muller and she will now meet for the gold of the 54kg, Poland’s Zuzanna Golebiewska.

Italy’s Sara Scorrano built up a great strategy against England’s Shannon Warren which was followed by the young talent well to win this 70kg semi-final which means that she can fight for gold with Turkey’s surprise, Yonka Gul Yilmaz.

Ireland’s Sean McCusker will meet Georgia’s Giorgi Chikhvadze at the 60kg while Greece’s Ioannis Poumpouridis and Poland’s Kajetan Bajzert managed the pathway to the 85kg title bout in Ostrava.
