Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania and Montenegro earned their first medals on Session12

Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania and Montenegro earned their first medals at the European U15 Boxing Championships in Budva in the evening session of Day5.

England’s southpaw Myles Cash kept the control against Ukraine’s Marat Velbovets from the first until the last seconds and he proved his gold medal potential at the 46kg.

Latvia’s Kirils Volosovs and Czech Republic’s Jan Cicko both eliminated strong opponents in the Round of 16 in Budva. Volosovs tried to use his height advantage in all of the three rounds and his strategy paid off in this quarter-final to earn Latvia’s first medal in Budva.

Croatia’s Vito Rupcic had a solid performance against Poland’s Bartosz Gorecki and he took the lead on the judges’ scorecards. The Zagreb-based 48kg boxer had an emotional performance in the third round, he gave in everything to take Croatia’s first medal.

Lithuania’s Vakaris Kiseliunas stopped his first opponent and he was too strong for Czech Republic’s Vojtech Halinar as well. He controlled all of the exchanges and bagged Lithuania’s first medal and he will now meet Ireland’s Zoe Creighton.

England’s Shane Keet and Ukraine’s Yevhenii Kovach met in then quarter-finals in an early final and as expected their bout was a great chess game. The English boy produced an exceptional second and a brilliant third round to beat the current Asian Champion.

Lithuania’s Albertas Ulcinskas had longer hands than Greece’s Nikolaos Oikonomou but his opponent caught him with heavy shots in the second round and he finished the quarter-final with a stoppage which means he will meet Turkey’s Yagiz Kiymaz as next.

Montenegro’s Nikola Ilic felt the support of the home crowd and he boxed over his previous level against Italy’s Rosario Simone and he bagged the host country’s first medal in this championship.
