Rustemovski, Gordon and Bozorov started well at the 54th Golden Gong Tournament

A local boxer, Alen Rustemovski, England’s Rio Gordon and Moldova’s Davron Bozorov started well at the 54^th Golden Gong Tournament, which is North Macedonia’s main international competition.

Austria’s Imara Abdel Rahman Hassan has been preparing to the upcoming European U23 Boxing Championships but he had a tight loss to Albania’s Emanuel Koco in the semi-finals of the 55kg weight class. His brother, Kristian Koco also succeeded in the first day of boxing and he eliminated Sweden’s Alvin Warukaga.

North Macedonia’s Alen Rustemovski developed a lot in the recent two years and he had a successful start in the Group A of the 60kg on home soil. The young local boxer eliminated Sweden’s Patrick Wreder with full control of the semi-final bout.

England’s Joseph Turner was a quarter-finalist in the U19 World Boxing Championships in Pueblo one year ago and the 19-year-old boxer started his campaign effectively against Austria’s Bilal Sahel in his new category, at the 60kg.

Austria’s Emin Yildiz was brilliant in his first contest in North Macedonia where he bowed out Bulgaria’s Rumen Rumenov at the 70kg. Moldova’s Anton Lehcun succeeded in the next contest in this Group A at the 70kg, he triumphed over Slovenia’s Mark Lukacic.

Sweden’s Kevin Scott is a top boxer at the 70kg, he had several great triumphs this year but he suffered an unexpected loss to England’s Rio Gordon which means that his surprise opponent will be meeting for the gold medal Turkey’s Alperen Yilmaz.

Moldova’s Davron Bozorov represented his nation in several top events in the recent seven years and he returned with a tight success over North Macedonia’s Enis Aliu at the 75kg but Austria’s Lucky Aimufua and Moldova’s next top athlete, Andrei Zaplitnii also succeeded in the first session of the Golden Gong.
