Nearly 300 boxers including five Paris Olympians will compete at the European U23 Boxing Championships in Budapest

Nearly 300 boxers are planning to participate in the upcoming European U23 Women’s and Men’s Boxing Championships, which will take place in Budapest, Hungary between November 21 and 30.

Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and Wales are the 33 participating nations.

The Olympic silver medallist Julia Szeremeta is one of the top names in the European U23 Boxing Championships, but Norway’s Sunniva Hofstad, Bulgaria’s Radoslav Rosenov, Spain’s duo Rafael Lozano Serrano and Oier Ibarreche were also Olympians in Paris.

Budapest was the host of the European Elite Boxing Championships in 1985, the World Boxing Championships in 1997, the Junior World Boxing Championships in 2000 and the Youth World Boxing Championships in 2018.

The arrival day for the U23 competition is November 21-22, the first competition day in two rings is November 23 while the finals will take place on November 30.

The new European Boxing hosted its U19 Championships in Ostrava in the beginning of October and its U15 Championships in Budva between October 16 and 26 before the Budapest U23 Championships.
