Canada’s promising official, Mr. Ryan O’Shea was elected as the Vice-President of World Boxing
The World Boxing Congress took place in Rome, Italy over the weekend where Mr. Gennadiy Golovkin became the President and Canada’s official, Mr. Ryan O’Shea was elected as the Vice-President of the organization.
Mr. Ryan O’Shea is the President and CEO of the Miracon Development, he has several academic awards and he is the President of Boxing Canada since 2022.
Mr. Ryan O’Shea will join Mr. Matt Holt of England and Mrs. Dinah Glykidis of Australia as the next Vice-President of World Boxing.
The President of Canada Boxing received 32 votes during the Election of the Vice-President, 57.14% of majority against Mr. Chaiwat Chotima of Thailand who had 24 votes in Rome.
The IOC engagement, the governance and ethics, the membership and global growth, and the athlete-first approach were the key projects of his campaign.
Mr. Ryan O’Shea worked directly with the National Federations in America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa to expand the membership of World Boxing.
He was an athlete, an administrator and a leader in boxing before he was elected to the position of Vice-President and these experience will support his success in longer periods as well.
Securing boxing’s place in the Olympic Games not only in Los Angeles but after that to keep our sport in the top level for long-term.
Strengthening governance and independence to increase the integrity, the fairness in all levels of the international sport.
Expanding opportunities for athletes are the third key vision for the next phase of his strategic goals and Mr. O’Shea will keep the focus on these elements.
