Mukhit, Timoscov, Umarov, Calugar, Sousa and Cucu won tough U17 and U19 finals at the Dracula Open

The 5th Dracula Open Tournament has finished with the U17 and U19 male finals in Ploiesti, Romania during the sixth day of boxing.

Romania’s Cristi Casu is the defending European U15 Champion who joined the next age group to the U17s this January. The 15-year-old local boy was unstoppable in the entire Dracula Open and he defeated Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh Khalimbet in the first U17 final.

Kazakhstan’s Angsar Ussenkhan worked also hard in his final bout and his finish was enough to beat Ukraine’s Zakhar Melnyk by 4:1 split decision. Kazakhstan’s Nurassyl Galym had to beat his next top rival, Alikhan Satybayev in the third U17 final of the last day.

Kazakhstan’s Emir Mukhit stopped Moldova’s Alexandru Buhaniuc in one of the best U17 finals of the Dracula Open. Moldova’s next finalist in the event, Andrei Timoscov worked well enough in all of the three rounds to beat Kazakhstan’s Nurassyl Orazaly at the 70kg.

Islam Suleimanogly caused one of the surprises in the U17 final bouts, he triumphed over Dinmukhamed Shansharkhan in a top Kazakh final battle. Uzbekistan’s Samandarbek Umarov had the strong performance in the sixth competition day to beat Kazakhstan’s Alibek Alpamys at the 80kg.

Romania’s Ionut Calugar’s success opened the finals in the U19 age group which was followed by a Bulgarian talent, Yanko Iliev at the 55kg after beating Romania’s Denis Aurel Alexandrescu.

Romania’s Florin Ulmeanu defeated his teammate Andrei Marcu at the 65kg with top performance but Ukraine’s duo as Volodymyr Ovodov and Dmytro Polozov also managed to win their U19 weight categories in Ploiesti.

Brazil sent a strong and talented team to the Dracula Open and their Claudio Sousa was unstoppable for George Balan of Romania at the 80kg final. Bulgaria’s Nikolay Ivanov had a tough semi-final bout but after that, he managed to beat Ukraine’s Davyd Kurskyi easier in the 85kg title contest.

Serbia’s rising Veljko Ristic and Romania’s Denis Cucu won the heaviest finals in the men’s U19 age group in Ploiesti.
